There’s been lots of buzz in the news this week about the High Court’s formal declaration that current legislation discriminates against single parents with children born through surrogacy. A landmark case involving a single father and his child has caused ministers to considering changing the law to allow single parents through surrogacy to receive a parental order rather than having to adopt their children in order to be recognised as the legal parent.
