Our team

The charity is run by a small team in our London office and led by our Board of Trustees. We have a large pool of volunteers, as well as paid workshop facilitators, all of whom are DCN members.

Our Staff

People are at the heart of what we do and that includes the team in the office. Many of us at DCN have had personal experience of donor conception, meaning we understand the kinds of issues families face and how people going through fertility treatment feel. The office has staff who have had treatment both in the UK and abroad, using anonymous donors.

We have a small but dedicated team who mostly work part-time, both from our office in Clerkenwell, London and remotely. The office is open and staffed most days Monday to Friday. We have a dedicated phone line you can ring to speak to a real person and if we can’t answer, do leave a message and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.

Areas of responsibility:

  • Nina – director

  • Frances – operations

  • Yael – membership, member events and research

  • Jo – workshops, conferences and bookshop

  • Cuan – social media and website

  • Frank – membership and renewals

  • Kate – marketing and communications

Our Trustees

DCN is governed by a board of trustees who oversee our work and ensure we stay true to our organisational mission and values. They bring a wealth of professional insight and personal experience, and provide us with ideas, expertise and guidance. Trustees are formally appointed at our Annual General Meeting each spring.

Our current trustees are:

Geoffrey Marx (Interim chair)

Sue Dean

Ros Wall

Carole Gilling-Smith

Céline Le Guyader

Rachel Walsh

Donor Conceived Person Liaison Volunteer – Sarah Bennett

Sarah was conceived through anonymous donation in 1999 and grew up in a female only household with two wonderful mums and two brilliant sisters. Sarah’s lived experience shapes the perspective she brings to this role and to her work within the donor conceived community.

Academically, Sarah holds a First Class degree in Social Policy from the University of Bristol. She furthered her studies at the International Youth Initiative Program in Sweden, where she studied systems-thinking and youth empowerment.

Now back in the UK, Sarah is excited to bring her experience in social policy, blog writing, and youth-centred activism to help amplify and represent the perspectives of Donor Conceived People within DCN

While Sarah works closely with the DCN team, her blog posts, opinions, and perspectives are her own and do not necessarily reflect the views of DCN as a whole.

Our volunteers and facilitators

We have an amazing team of volunteers who provide a lot of our frontline services, welcoming new members, organising local meetups or facilitating our online chats. Our facilitators play a really important role, acting as host and helping manage the space, ensuring our events are well-run and keep a clear focus.
