Supporting confident conversations about donors and genetic connections. A NEW workshop for parents of children aged 10-20.
Join us: 8 November 2025
Do you find the idea of your child connecting with their donor or half-siblings a daunting prospect? Perhaps you’re unsure how to raise the topic with them, or you’d value a safe space to explore what it might mean if – or when – they choose to make contact.
Our new Continuing the Conversation workshop offers just that: a supportive space to think about the future, consider the possible implications, and build confidence in navigating these conversations with your child.
At this event, you will:
This workshop is specially designed for parents of donor conceived children aged 10-20 years who have already told their child about being donor conceived. It is suitable for all family types and is equally appropriate whether your treatment took place in the UK or abroad.
‘Continuing the Conversation’ is open to DCN members and non-members alike.
This workshop has been made possible by funding from the European Sperm Bank and the Young Adults Study and we are enormously grateful for their support. We also allocated the money we raised from our 2025 Appeal towards this project, including the match funding from the London Sperm Bank. Thanks go to all our donors and members for contributing and enabling us to support our community in continuing important family conversations.
We are focussing on parents of children aged roughly 10 to 20. We identified this as an age range where parents are leading the conversation, to some degree at least, and children are old enough to engage and participate.
This workshop has been designed specifically with parents of slightly older children in mind. However, if you feel it may be particularly relevant to your situation, please do get in touch—we’re happy to consider individual circumstances on a case-by-case basis.
It’s possible this workshop could be suitable for you. Please do get in touch, and we’ll be happy to explore whether it’s the right fit for your circumstances.
No, this workshop is designed specifically for parents who have already begun sharing information with their child.
If you haven’t started telling yet and your child is under seven, we recommend attending our Telling and Talking 0–7 Years workshop. If your child is over seven, please do get in touch – we’d be happy to suggest alternative ways we can support you.
Yes, we plan to offer this workshop again next year. Do sign up to our Mailing List to keep in touch.
