A guest speaker series exclusively for DCN members
The Big Question is our exciting new webinar series for DCN members. We’re aiming to address questions and common concerns that we often hear from families and prospective parents in our Network, and we’ll be inviting a different expert to join us each time to address our ‘big question’.
Whether you’re considering using a donor, are already a parent via donor conception or are a professional in the field of assisted reproduction, we hope you’ll find this series a great new benefit of your DCN membership. These webinars are free to attend and are exclusively for DCN members.

We have a fantastic speaker lined up for our second Big Question event.
Join us for a fascinating discussion with Jana Rupnow, international author, speaker and counsellor on the topic of genetic loss for DC parents and that emotive word ‘real’
Jana is an international author, speaker and counsellor, based in the US. She has a wealth of knowledge about donor conception, built over the years by hearing from both parents and donor conceived people themselves. In 2018 she published her best-selling book ‘Three Makes Baby’ (available in the DCN bookshop as we consider it such a valuable resource).
Since 2010, Jana has helped thousands of people facing the psychological and social challenges of infertility as well as those preparing for third-party family building and adoption. She knows what it’s like to be in a non-biological family herself, as both an adoptee and adoptive mum. She has personal experience of infertility as she and her husband had male-factor secondary infertility. This led to them adopting their daughter from China which means she also has experience of being a culturally diverse family. All of this puts her in a great position to consider the topic with us.
‘I thought that this event was really excellent. Dr Sophie Zadeh is a very accomplished speaker and I found the findings of her
important research very interesting. Thank you to the DCN for arranging this!’‘As a professional working in the field, it was so valuable to gain insights from lived experience to share with potential recipients as they consider planning their family via donor conception.’
‘Sophie was a great speaker and talked through the findings in an easy-to-understand way.’
