You might be coming to this website having just discovered you may need to use donor eggs, sperm or embryos. Couples have often had a long journey of unsuccessful fertility treatment and it can be a real shock when the move to donor conception is suggested. Alternatively, maybe you’ve known for a while that you would need to use donor conception and are now looking at exploring this option in more detail. We recommend starting on the ‘Making your Decision’ page as these first pages contain information specific to your situation and the early part of your donor conception journey.
If you are a parent, it might be that you’re looking for information and guidance around being open with your child and others or talking with your child as he or she gets older. Perhaps you’d like to meet other families or your child to meet other children made ‘just like them’. Your child may have expressed curiosity or have questions you would like help answering.
Older children may be wondering about the donor and/or half siblings and potentially be interested in finding out more or making contact. You might want to consider how to support them with that and how to support them if that avenue isn’t open to them. If you have teenagers or adult children who haven’t been told yet you might be looking for some specialist support with that.
We recommend you start at the ‘Telling and Talking’ page and work your way through the pages from there.
